Where Skeletons Get Their Hot Eyewear

This post is a long overdue. In Santa Fe New Mexico Sam visited the coolest shop: "Ojo Optique."  The only place in the state that sells awesome eyeglasses. The men who work there are so helpful, professional, and a riot to be around.  There are so many great frames, that it is hard to decide. Really!
Adam, Sam, and brother Jed

So many to choose from, and this is only a fraction of their collection.

If you're a "glassaholic" like I am...then run, don't walk to Ojo: 125 Lincoln, Santa Fe New Mexico.

It Rained On Our Parade, But That Didn't Stop Us

Rather than put the top up when it sprinkled...I opened an umbrella. This was rather surreal!

As we drove to the South Valley where the parade is held, there were black clouds looming. We got into the staging area, set the bride and groom on the back of the VW convertible and the rain started. So I put up the top, but left the bride and groom out, as there was nowhere to bring them under cover. The wind blew with gusts up to 20 mph! That proved to be difficult in keeping the sombreros on. As you can see in the photo, our mariachi man's sombrero was blowing in the wind. Bob and I had elastic on the hats, and wire on some.
We had 2 skeleton dogs on the float...they were a hit!

Bob kept his little dog moving during the parade, and the kids just loved it!

Part 2 tomorrow. I am still getting pictures from people to post. Thanks Daniel for all your great shots.

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Kelley.

Getting Ready For The Parade

copyright 2014 polkadot magpie

We have been away from blogging. My husband had spinal fusion surgery this summer. The good news is that he's recovering. It's a slow process.  My time has been spent taking care of him. However I have been getting ready for the Day of the Dead parade.

Here are a few photos of the prep work.

More tomorrow! I promise.

Hear No Evil

From the series: "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil."

I am way behind on posts of Sam.  I also have a link to a video a woman in the UK made about our Sammie Sam.  Although Sam says she is not morbid, and wishes people would understand that everyone has a skeleton inside.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRuPLU29H5A

I am way behind on posting and have some fabulous pictures from our travels.  Stay tuned. :-)

Surf's Up Sam!!

copyright 2014 polkadot magpie

Sam went with us to Santa Barbara at the end of April. I am just getting to publishing the photos. She loved how the water felt on her bones.

May is plant the garden month, and that's what I've been doing.

She loved the beautiful setting, and wants to live there.  Haha Sam, you better become a super star so we can buy a house on the ocean.

My beautiful niece Elizabeth joined us. She'd be a great photo assistant!  Love you girl.

Sam Gets A New Ride!

This time with 4 wheels.
Kevin and Jeff from Uptown Volkswagen

Sam and I rode all the way home with the top down in 40 degree weather. At least 10 people honked at her. An Albuquerque Police car followed us all the way to the city limits. I also saw him taking a picture on his phone.  Sam is going to love riding around town with the top down in warmer weather!

Kevin and Jeff were provided great service, and even picked Sam and me up from the house.  I recommend Uptown VW: http://www.uptownvw.com/?gclid=CPiQvJuF9LsCFU9ffgodYCIAzA
Thanks Guys!

9 Chicks A Peeping 2014

I had hoped to bring you Sam's New Years glasses shot. But my studio has had house guests, and then the chicks started to hatch.  For those of you who have only know me with Sam...I do lots of other fun activities.
I raise poultry, mostly fancy Bantam Cochins. Cochins are my favorite breed, both standard and bantam. We just had 9 chicks hatch out.  All Calico Cochins.  I hatched these for the 4H kids.  I wanted them to have beautiful birds for our fair this year.  I will try to post a picture every week of this flock.
Taken with my iPhone. Hour 2.
Looking for pictures of their parents.  They are stunning chicks. Already great wide body Cochin type with feathered feet.  Peep peep.
